Enthusiasm is one of the keys to a happy charged life. When you are enthusiastic the whole day seems to brighten up. Ralph Waldo Emerson said every great achievement is due to the triumph of enthusiasm. So, having a vision is great but you need to have the enthusiasm burning to achieve it. Here I have expanded on each letter of the word to bring the enthusiasm to you. Energy –  When you have high energy you are naturally more enthusiastic. By sleeping well, eating well, reducing your stress levels and exercising you will have higher energy. You can bring passion to your days with more energy which leads to greater enthusiasm. Never give up-  In order to maintain your enthusiasm levels with high energy you need to make the decision to never give up. No matter what happens make the decision to bounce back. If we think back to the tough situations in our lives, we have always handled it. It

My 12 Rules for Life

Image
The 12 Rules for life by Jordan Peterson did resonate with me and has become quite a huge success. It made me come up with my own rules for life. Here are the 12 rules I came up with. Develop a high appreciation for life  – What you appreciate does appreciate more. Only if you develop a deep appreciation for your life will you feel happy and peaceful. You will understand that there is a deeper meaning for your existence. Love your life for what it is and it is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to bring our talents to light. Appreciate your uniqueness  – The fact is even identical twins are not same. This means we are all unique and I can’t be anyone else other than me. Even if I try to be someone else I will only be a poor imitation. So, appreciating the value of our uniqueness is a great starting point to enjoying life more. We are all in the game of life and each of us has a role to play. As they say the jungle is neutral and none of us are insignificant compared to each

The Dream is Free but the Journey Isn't

I was discussing with my daughter some time back about dreams and it got me thinking that we always encourage our kids to dream big while encouraging them that they can achieve anything they want. However is that really good solid advice. I thought deeply about what do dreams signify and how can I explain to kids that you cannot achieve anything you want but you must think big while working towards your dreams. It also got me thinking that some of the adults have stopped dreaming so I really wanted to write this piece addressing what it takes to do your dreams. The word dreams project an excitement that no other word can. Dreams are a vision for your future which pulls you to wake up every morning with a smile and look forward to each day with excitement. In my opinion get excited about your life first and then you can truly wake up with a smile. Just read this wonderful article from Larsen Jensen  Positive Psychology Lessons from an Olympic Medalist and Navy SEAL . He says he wo

Stay Relaxed During the Summer with these 26 Strategies

Image
Summer holidays are here. We all plan some vacations and for most of us this is with kids. This means the likelihood of stress is higher. A lot of us also go on vacations which is great but sometimes we need a vacation after the vacation. So, my aim with this article is to give simple suggestions to stay relaxed and enjoy the holidays. At the same time, I also share strategies which can reduce our stress levels and enjoy life more. Stress is one of the leading causes of depression and considering the pace of our modern lives we should pause and reevaluate our lives on a constant basis. As Mahatma Gandhi said  “There is more to life than increasing its speed.” Here are some simple strategies to be relaxed, stay happy and enjoy life in general. Create white space  – What I mean by this is there is no need to cram every single activity in a 10 hour period. Allow some space as you cannot get to every location in a place. Ease into the day off just go slow and start slow. This kee

Novak Djokovic - The Champion Who Never Gives Up

Image
Novak Djokovic has just won his 16th grand slam by winning his 5th Wimbledon. What a match, what drama, what character, what tenacity and what resilience. Not only was he facing the best grass-court player of all time but he was also facing a crowd in which the only camp supporting him was his. On top of this he hit fewer winners, fewer aces, had lesser breakpoints, faced a couple of match points and still eked out a magnificent victory that will be the stuff of folklore. To me he has joined the pantheon of all time greats with this victory. If ever there was a doubt whether he should be at the same table as Federer and Nadal that has been put to rest forever. This is an amazing feat considering the quality of the opposition he had. People had written him off for the last few years. What makes him a true champion is how he has bounced back in-spite of his critics. Djokovic said this after the match “It was one shot away from losing the match. It could have gone easily his way.” M

My Time Management Philosophy - Say No to the Experts

Image
We all start out with the same time. Everyone gets 24 hours a day whether we like it or not. What we do with our 24 hours day in and day out determines ultimately where we end up. How we use those 24 hours is totally our choice. Once we see that each of these 24 hours is a gift the whole idea of time management changes. With technology available 24*7 the whole concept of compartmentalization of personal and work life is no longer valid. We are connected to our emails all through the day and we hardly switch off. As we have heard a million times all time management experts say we should only check emails 2-3 times a day. This is easier said than done and personally I don’t agree with this approach. For many of us our work lives involve email and speed is the essence especially if your customer or team needs something urgent. I think the better way to manage email is to give it the respect it deserves. Leaving unanswered email (I am talking about official email) which is important
