6 Books to Kick Start 2019 on a High Note
I hope 2019 has started off great for you. January is an appropriate time to start with these books. I found these 6 books to be inspiring, relaxing and engaging.
Be fearless by Jean Case – This is an inspiring book by Jean Case whose life itself is awe inspiring. This will make you think bigger than you are now. The five strategies are make a big bet, be bold take risks, make failure matter, reach beyond your bubble, and let urgency conquer fear. This book will enable to us think bigger about our lives.
Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins – Well-written book overall it is a triumph of resilience and determination. There are five extensive ideas which are the accountability mirror, The Governor, The 40% Rule, The Cookie Jar, and Taking Souls. Here is one section where he says how important goals are “I set goals, wrote them on Post-It notes, and tagged them to what I now call the Accountability Mirror because each day I’d hold myself accountable to the goals I’d set.”
Dark Horse by Todd Rose and Ogi Ogas – I thoroughly enjoyed this book which read like most self-help books. It had more research than normal, and the main thesis is to achieve success through the pursuit of fulfillment. First you should know what your micro motives are. For example, why do you go to work or why do you want to exercise. You should also know your choices, know your strategies, focus on goals not destination and finally prioritize success and happiness. I reviewed his earlier book "The End of Average" here. The End of Average by Todd Rose.
Ninja Future by Gary Shapiro – This is an informative book on how to navigate the latest trends in technology. This is all about navigating battles against extraordinary odds. There are a lot of examples on the shaping of our future and how we can navigate it.
Chill # by Bryan E. Robinson – This was a surprisingly delightful book to start the year with. He goes through each month and gives a theme for each. We are just in Jan 2019 which is a wonderful time for all of us to evaluate where we are in our lives and where we want to go from here. It is also a book that gives us some space to slow down and just enjoy life. It is a reminder for all of us that perfection does not exist. We can be more self-compassionate as we start 2019 on a relaxed note.
Chasing Excellence by Ben Bergeron – The author is the Cross Fit trainer, so he knows a thing or two about excellence. Again, it is an inspiring book which came out in 2017. Several qualities are identified for potential champions. Some of them include commitment, grit, positivity, confidence and humility among others. A flat out great read.
Check out these books and they are pretty good for you to have a great start to 2019.
